Samsung, "Galaxy Book2 Pro" with S pen support and Intel Arc
On the 28th, Samsung Electronics of South Korea announced the notebook PC "" and "Galaxy Book2 Pro". Release date and price have not been revealed.
Both are equipped with a full HD (1,920 x 1,080 dots) AMOLED display. They have 15.6-inch and 13.3-inch lineups, respectively, and adopt the 12th generation Core-i7/i5 for the CPU. The main differences between the two are the opening and closing mechanism of the display, the presence or absence of S pen and 5G support, and the presence or absence of Intel Arc graphics. Only opens and closes 360 degrees and supports S Pen. Only the 15.6-inch model of Galaxy Book2 Pro is equipped with Intel Arc and supports 5G connection.
Newly compatible with Microsoft's Secured-Core PC. A Sebured-Core PC is a PC equipped with an OS image that is enabled by default to ensure security from both software and hardware. It can also respond to attacks against UEFI.
Other features common to all models include Wi-Fi 6E, 1080p web camera, Bluetooth 5.1, power button with built-in fingerprint authentication sensor, and microSD card slot. Charging is compatible with USB-PD, and the estimated battery life is about 21 hours. OS is Windows 11.
In terms of functionality, "Galaxy Book Smart Switch14" (login to Samsung account required) that migrates OS settings and data from the old environment to the new environment, execution and status confirmation of smartphone applications from Windows, etc. You can use "Link to Windows / Microsoft Your Phone 15" that can be done, and "Samsung Multi Control 16" that can operate Galaxy Tab S8 and later models from Galaxy Book 2 Pro. Along with the introduction of the new model, the UI of various applications for Samsung Book has been updated to improve convenience.
The AMOLED display supports HDR display with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and a brightness of 500nit. The color gamut is DCI-P3 120%. Memory is 32GB, storage is 1TB SSD. Interfaces include Thunderbolt 4 x 1, USB Type-C x 2, audio input and output.
The body size and weight are 354.85 x 227.97 x 11.9 mm (width x depth x height) for the 15.6 type, 1.41 kg. 13.3 type is 302.5 x 202 x 11.5mm, 1.04kg.
Galaxy Book2 Pro has different thickness (height) and weight when the clamshell is closed with or without Intel Arc. The main specifications are 32GB of memory and 1TB NVMe SSD for storage. Interfaces include Thunderbolt 4 x 1, USB Type-C x 1, USB 3.2 x 1, HDMI x 1, audio input and output. Only 15.6 type has nano SIM slot.
The size and weight of the 15.6-inch model is 355.4 x 225.8 x 11.7 mm and 1.11 kg (the model without Arc is 13.2 mm high and the model with 1.17 kg). 13.3 type is 304.4 x 199.8 x 11.2 mm, 0.87 kg.
